Im from Virginia myself, and when these guys started I was pretty intrigued, before I realized they were signed before proving anything. Besides the fact that they had one member from a relatively famous band.

yea wogger I knew they were a super group of sorts, I didn't know they got signed before doing anything though. Calc I didn't mind the clean vox on the royal thousand, nothing special but it kept it interesting, unlike this shit.

I wasn't being mean, I think i read something long the lines of it was a conscious decision because the guy doesn't think he sounds good or the band doesn't think he sounds good.

yeayea I didn't take it as an aggressive statement or something don't worry. I never knew that they made that move, I'll have to look it up. Might be one of the reasons they sound so homogeneous on this EP.

I saw these guys on Friday and was not impressed at all. The vocalist wasn't good like you said and on top of that he was being a douche to the sound guy during the set. The guitarist was just flailing on his nine string monstrosity, and it was clear that they need another person playing guitar as the backtracks were too prevalent throughout. It's sad because this guitarist definitely has skill and could be doing much better. Next time I will skip these guys.

I've never seen these guys live before! but yea I don't get why most bands choose to use backtracks instead of additional live performers, unless it's minimal stuff it never seems to mesh well (from my experience).

I've seen a handful indie rock bands (and The Faceless) backtrack bass and it wasn't a huge issue for them. I would just always prefer to be able to see someone playing bass as opposed to just listening to a recording. Now backtracks with keys and synth I can understand, but other than that I'm not a fan.

yeah that's exactly how I feel too, I'm not paying to listen to the recordings. I think Rings of Saturn backtracks their bass too now.

That's interesting. I wonder if they lost a member or their current bassist just isn't touring. I know The Faceless backtracked bass just because Evan wasn't touring with them.

That comment about the singing is interesting. I thought his voice was pretty solid, one of the
reasons I somewhat enjoyed their first release. I think his harsh vocals are pretty awful, even more
so here than on the first release. If he really isn't going to sing at all any more I probably won't
bother to check out their future material.

They just stuck out like a sore thumb. Silver Snakes was good, Rebuker was good, To The Wind was good, Birds in Row was spectacular, The Chariot was mindblowing, and Glass Cloud was shit. I feel that Glass Cloud shouldn't have been on this tour in the first place.
