Review Summary: Give Me Back My Curly Wurly!
Batfoot! are a Sydney based pop punk band playing music reminiscent of bands like
Chixdiggit,
Screeching Weasel and The
Riverdales. Having recently blown up these guys have scored supports for the likes of MxPx, No Fun At All, The Flatliners and Strike Anywhere, this massive supporting role combined with their infectious song catalogue have officially made them Australia's answer to the likes of the kick ass
Teenage Bottlerocket.
Brain Dead is their debut album released on SP Records late last year, in which they smash through sixteen stupidly contagious three chord punk songs in nearly as many minutes; with topics ranging from the effects of Curly Wurly's on lasting relationships to the green, funny shaped bean dish called Edamame, they manage to take you back to a simpler, much more immature time.
By focusing the songs purely on their ‘ease to pogo to’ characteristics and sense of humor rather than any sort of restrictive modern day, genre crossing pop punk structure, Batfoot! have produced the most fun pure pop punk album of 2012. Expect to see these guys on The Fest very soon.
