Release Date: 2002 | Tracklist

Out of all the music DVDs in the world, none of them are as unique and mind boggling (as far as I know) as Korn’s first official full-length DVD release, Deuce. Most easily described as a compilation of Korn video clips, live performances, music videos, and bonus features set into the labyrinth of mind shocking and insanely over dramatic asylum, the DVD is basically a video game in which you travel through different areas of the asylum and find video footage hidden in a random object on the screen. Sometimes you find some priceless Korn moments, such as the band bloopers, Jonathan Davis’ drinking problem, Munky’s head injury, and the Fieldy rap, and sometimes you find short, useless footage of something so random it’d make you question whether you were watching a clean cut music DVD or cut outs of documentary footage.

The Music Videos
The DVD contains a large list of Korn music videos documenting from their self-titled first album to (at the time) latest release, Issues. The stand out music videos on the DVD are Blind, Got The Life, Make Me Bad, Freak On A Leash, and Falling Away From Me. Also (if you look a bit), you can find a special “Making Of...” for the Make Me Bad and Freak On A Leash videos. There is also an alternative remix version of the Make Me Bad video present on the DVD. Each video depicts interesting and even sometimes relevant footage as the song plays (such as the band members in an insanity asylum in the Make Me Bad and ‘flash-flash, bling-bling’ of the video for Got The Life). The Freak On A Leash and Falling Away From Me videos even link together as one giant video (when watched on the play all feature). The first an animation of a wandering bullet that goes through all these random interpretations of reality to the band members playing hard in a dark room with several holes of light shining on them only to have the bullet rewind back to the cartoon that started the video that shows the story behind the Follow The Leader front cover. The second is focused specifically on child abuse and a poor young girl (who apparently keeps the band inside a toy box) is viciously beaten by her father for whatever reason comes up) and ends with the children of the neighborhood uniting and running away from home. Overall, all the music videos are pretty solid and all around fun to watch if you’re a Korn fan, if not, then you wouldn’t even be bothering watching this DVD to begin with.

Music Video Rating
Blind (4/5)
Clown (4.5/5)
Faget (4/5)
Shoots And Ladders (3.5/5)
A.D.I.D.A.S. (4/5)
Got The Life (4.5/5)

Freak On A Leash (5/5)
Falling Away From Me (4.5/5)
Somebody Someone (4/5)

The Documentaries & Video Footage
For the most part, the documentary footage found of the band goofing around and/ or working in the studio is both interesting and fun to watch. The real downside to them is they don’t all flow in one long clip of footage but are instead scattered throughout the labyrinth of menus and unmarked icons that you click to bring up the footage. The search is sorta fun in it’s own way, but sometimes you get what you’re not looking for or even just a few seconds of nothing that next to anyone would care about regarding Korn. There is (in the child’s room, I do believe) a doll resembling the doll on the front cover of the Issues album that if you click on it shows you an extended Korn concert of the band on tour supporting their album Issues. Separated throughout the menus are hilarious bloopers of each individual band member that are easily worth looking for (Head’s being the funniest). The stories of each band member even come together in the Who Then Now DVD that is now attached to this DVD. Overall, the documentaries are perfect for anyone who wants to know all there is to know about Korn (in the early days).

Pros
-- Great music videos.
-- Very well made documentaries and bloopers.
-- Really shows that band members of Korn have there own personalities and are overall lovable and fun guys.
-- Perfect for any Korn fan collection.

Cons
-- The menus get so FREAKIN ANNOYING!
-- The videos are all censored.

This is the first time I've written a review in this format, but it's a DVD and a really hard one to review at that, so be nice please.

I liked the review, I wouldn't mind to watch this, as it sounds interesting. You described the DVD well, even in a somewhat short review (for a DVD).

Short reviews are awesome. Good job on the review, although I don't really like KoRn anymore.

haha not really a DVD to be taken seriously. it can be quite annoying to go through all the menus, but believe it or not, the clips wouldn't be as much fun if you didnt have to hunt for them.

I personally think Clown is Korn's best video.

Good review though, I used to watch this DVD a lot but I haven't pulled it out in a number of years. I thought the menus were awesome.

I hated navigating through this. Eventually I became so frustrated because I couldn't find anything and never knew what I was clicking on I sold it.

Well, people have posted lists on the internet of the chapters. I used that when I wanted to get directly to something, and otherwise had fun in the maze.

I couldn't stand this DVD. On top of the fact that Korn is only decent in my book, you couldn't find crap.

Practically half a year later I still find this to be an enjoyable watch. Though now I have little tolerance for Korn.
