Review Summary: Please give your ears and wallet the pleasure of not buying this album.

I found Drop Dead, Gorgeous one day on myspace. They are a rather big band on the site because they fit perfectly into the new trends, as metalcore is getting very big these days, and once any genre gets popular enough, you have watered down bands which just give you a more assessable version of the genre. Drop Dead, Gorgeous are one of those bands.

I bought this CD at a FYE store, and my choice was this or Rush's self titled debut. I truly regret not buying Rush, but I had heard The Show Must Go on by these guys and I loved it. I got home and uploaded this onto my computer and started listening to it right away. The first track I heard is the horrid Dressed For Friend Requests which is a song with some random lyrics that are supposed to mean something thrown in. The lyrics are absolutely terrible, and the song shows that the band has no talent whatsoever, but they can write catchy melodies. The instrumentation is bland, uninspired, and extremely generic. Here I bring you an example of the lyrics:

Quote:
She's dressed to kill
I don't know what to wear
She's dressed to kill
She's dressed to kill
Yeah, what the hell is with them lyrics?

The album from here really has no obvious highlights as every single song runs into each other to form one large gray blob. Every song follows the same structure, with screaming, clean singing thrown in, screaming and the end. With no variation between the songs this CD gets very tiring and does not flow well. Every song seems to get progressively worse and worse, until the highlight of the album comes The Show Must Go On. The song is not really good, but compared to everything else on the album, this song is a ***ing masterpiece. It still follows the same structure as every other song, but it really is the only song on here that I will willingly listen to anymore, besides for this review. The CD finally ends after a bland hidden track, and then you can breathe again. It's finally over. Let's just all hope they break up. Don’t buy this.

Track by track
1. Dressed For Friend Requests 1.5/5
2. Girl, Are You On Your... 1/5

6. Marietta 1/5
7. Are You Happy 1/5
8. Fashion Your Seatbelts 1.5/5

This is the only time named what genre these guys might be.

Describe the sound a bit more, then we'll talk about this review. You're getting better, but this review can only be understood by people who have heard the album.

Yeah, not great vocals. Infact, nothing outstanding in this band, other than the fact that some of the screams can be good, and his scream is somewhat unique. Also, there are some catchy parts to the songs, like in "Knife vs. Face: Round 1". Good song. Some of the songs are worth downloading, btw.

So, im not trying to start shit, but i like DDG. call me scene, call me whatever, musically, i think they have some potential if they put the whole scenemetal thing away. The screams are worthy of a pat on the back, and if you're pissed off... :D

all in all, you might have to get used to the fashion thing, but..for me.....just listen to the first minute of "are you happy" and tell me what you think after that...

they can write catchy melodies and thats it.

thats why the repeat the same melody about 8 times every song because if they didnt you wouldnt even remember listening to the song.

I'm going to have to agree on some points.

Drop Dead, Gorgeous are by no means a good band or anything new. Musically they're pretty bland.

Regardless, I'd give them a 3/5. That's just because I really like some songs. Like Girl are you on your... and Well I never...

But I'm going to agree. The Show Must Go On is their best song. I currently actually really like it, because whoever sings that "Hollywood will be jealous" line is very good at singing.

Oh yeah. I wanted to add that though Dressed For Friend Requests is badly written, if you're INTO this genre, a lot of their other songs aren't WONDERFULLY but decently written.
& in regards to your review, if the person didn't listen to the album they won't really.. get it. You kinda just stated your opinion. It was one sided. Be more descriptive so people agree with you without having listened to it

I agree with slep.

And to add my two cents, this band is really bad.
