If you ever need to know ANYTHING about Cannibal Corpse, ask CorpseSlayer. He'll know.

Why is everybody knocking CC? Chris' vocals are amazing, and this is one of my favorite death metal albums! And I don't know why crappy melo-death bullshit doesn't go by it's real name "pussy metal". I mean, I liked At the Gate's "Slaughter of the Soul" and I like Norther and all but in flames is the furthest thing from death metal ever! And to fans of death metal the lyrics aren't gross, they're fucking brutal and any fan surely understands that.

this album runs a close race with the bleeding, but I definitely like this one better. Vocals are at their best, and the guitar makes me want to bash my own skull in (in a good way, of course)! only one complaint for the review - only a 3/5 for necropedophile? The lyrics are the most horribly gruesome I've ever read, it's a 4 at least. Other than that, great review. I'm just glad someone else appreciates good metal when he hears it.
in flames... BAH!

It's your opinion, but just because their lyrics are brutal doesnt make the rest pussy metal. Who needs to know about human bodies being mutilated? Don't rip on bands like In Flames and At The Gates, IMO they are way more consistent then these guys. I don't know why you're even comparing them, when they're different in genre.
Btw, Cryptopsy and Aborted own Cannibal Corpse. This Message Edited On 07.09.07

Yes! Finally someone that likes Necropedopphile as much as me. I would give it a 4.5/5. I still like Butchered at Birth a little bit more than this, but this is without a doubt a classic in the genre.

I said I like at the gates butt-pirate! And I'm only trying to point out that melo-death is a horrible genre name for something that isn't death metal in any way. And thanks for the suggestion, if you don't like CC (which you should...) you should try suffocation, they're f-ing brutal!

I know suffocation they're good.

I'd say Aborted are a more refined version of CC with more accessibility. But I enjoy both bands.
Cryptopsy only own with half of their discography. CC own with about two-thirds of theirs.

Not all death metal has to be "brutal" that is why there is melodic death metal. Plus you don't have to crazy fast with really low gutturals to be brutal.
Suffocation kicks ass by the way!

These guys are obviously writing these lyrics so people can be disgusted. It's all humor to them. You've got to laugh when you read some of these lyrics!
|
| |
They intentionally write these kinds of lyrics and show these images just to compensate for their mediocre song-writing. It's all about the image.
|
| |
How can you not like CC. They are the staple of the face of DM for the last 10 odd years.

They are writing these lyrics out of their love of horror movies and their love for these kind of subjects. Yes, they find them equally as disgusting, but they find it interesting. They just write about what kind of things they find interesting they don't write these songs for shock value. They have always said that their lyrics should be just as "brutal" as the music itself is. I hate it when people come to onclusions about most death metal bands that write abou tthese subjects without researching the band and genre and find out why they write about these subject matters.

Probably, but their music just doesn't match up.

That's a matter of opinion.

Cannibal Corpse are overrated but they are damn good at what they do...
Let's leave it at that.
|

I think they're more underrated among the mainstream and overrated umang the underground. They definatly get ragged on by ignorant people.

^^^ Best point about the band I've ever read.
I bumped this up to a 4.5. I also really enjoy Split Wide Open, there are some really cool drum fills in the intro sections.

Actually, Split Wide Open is probably my least favorite track on the album. All the tracks on this album (besides SWO) are all equally as amazing.
