Yeah, but I personally don't think it's that chaotic.

Maybe it's just me.

Ah, yes, I can honestly say that the first and only time I listened to Chiodos' album, it made my ears hurt. Nice review, but lacking in truth.

This is actually a really musically complex album. If you don't like progressive music much (a la Dream Theater), then you probably won't like Chiodos. I think based on sheer musical ability alone (Craig Owens' amazingly versatile voice, great guitar leads, great keyboards/synth/piano) it deserves a 3. But then again, I'm a fan of the genre, so I'm giving it a 4.5 since I really did enjoy it alot.

I like this album.

But I really disagree with you. These guys are not prog at all, and it's not really that complex.

Get some Dillinger Escape Plan.

I actually do like me some prog, and this definitely isn't prog. The worst part is, it almost killed the genre for me.

The only true use for this band is ways to give my friend, who has a man-crush on all of them, flak. This Message Edited On 11.26.06

I like a lot of prog also.

I think these guys are good, but a bit hyped up.

I was gonna try to go to that tour here in MN, but it didn't work out.

I'm still forming a opinion on the album since I only got it like 10 days ago.

I bet. I'm not too big into Atreyu though.

I went to Thursday/Circa Survive/Billy Talent/Rise Against instead though.

This review is really great too.

It's chaotic/disorganized in the sense that the band can't stick to one stereotypical overdone genre, they have to crap all over about five of them in one song
Usually it's a mix of pop/pseudo-metalcore/pseudo-emo/bad pop-punk

Chiodos is my new favorite band. I love the vocals, they are different than the

normal post-hardcore vocals, as they lean more towards Emo. The piano gives it a

different sound along with amazing lyrics and great riffs. I absolutely love how

"There's No Penguin's In Alaska" is pretty much 2 songs in one, half softer and half

harder. I recently saw them live in Colombus, OH with FFTL, Every Time I Die, and

Atreyu and in my opinion Chiodos or FFTL should have headlined because Atreyu

was just mediocre. SEE CHIODOS LIVE!This Message Edited On 12.03.06

subtle dagger, where are you getting pseudo metalcore and emo from? i never called them metalcore, i said that they have metalcore inspired instrumentation. and emo is also not in the mix, well, not real emo. i've never heard any actual emo, but i know that it is not this. i'll call them post hardcore and that will be more fitting.

^Do you even know what Pseudo means? Fake, pretend, artificial, simulated ect ect. He never said there was any real emo or metalcore here. This Message Edited On 12.04.06

i never said he said that any of it was real. english is my best subject, so therefore i do indeed understand the meaning of the word pseudo. i just wonder where he got pseudo metalcore because from what i hear, they aren't trying to be metalcore, they are just utilizing their talents as musicians.

I found this album to be a breath of fresh air, even if the guitars were repetitive at times. The vocals are excellent, despite the digusting highs Craig can hit. The keyboardist is their saviour, i honestly think they would be much worse without him tying everything together.

The acoustic version of Lindsay Quit Lollygagging is so corny, so cliche, but I love it. I'm such a sap.

I don't see anything great about them. They're decent compared to others out there, but anything above a 3 is pushing it. It's not so much complex as trying too hard to stand out.
