First impression on the remix/remaster:
They did a good job with clarity, and were able to create a tridimentional sound that isn't present on the original one. Does it benefit the songs? I'm not sure. I'm not ready to discredit this yet but I don't see how the clean mix improves the album. If anything, the clean up makes these songs lose muscle. I will say, though, I liked how Jay's vocals are so clear and I didn't realize how great his performance was in here.
They did a major fuck up with "Andromeda", though. I can't believe they muted the second guitar line halfway through the song. That melody is ESSENTIAL to the build up and they managed to destroy it. A cardinal sin. This alone disqualifies this version from replacing the original in my head canon. Propagandhi remixed and remastered Today's Empires... and IMPROVED the actual album itself, which was already superb. That remaster was so careful they didn't skip a single note, but rather accentuated each one of them. And, thus, the original ceased to exist. This is clearly not the case here.

Oh man I skipped to Waitress and it raises and muddied up parts that threw off the experience for me.
Some of the buried vocals worked with how it felt like you were ascending through the atmosphere and they’d get buried in that air. It could also be cuz I grew up with this album and that early 2000s metalcore sound was done right by a few like skycamefalling and this remixed threw me off

I agree. The clarity makes this sound clautrophobic where the muddled mix and "static" aura of the original makes it sound more spacey

Its like the person who remade this didnt understand the particular intricicies of what made this album a 6/5 and anyone who thinks this is a classic knew what those details were. Fuck it, sterlize that shit.

It's ironic since this was remixed by Mike Watts, who has produced all Hopesfall albums since A Types. You would think he knows how to make them sound good. But bottom line, he didn't work on SY so he clearly has no idea what made that album so special. I mean, the mix sounds fine but some key parts were either totally muted or put in the background. It's unforgivable to do that when he had a point of reference. I'm listening to this thinking - Come on Mike! Did you even listened to this before working on it?

"These guys have such a hard time with getting efficient support from the people around them."
I wouldn't be so negative, Storm. General audiences seems to like the remixed version and vinyl copies have sold out. I hope new audiences connect with this new version of Satellite Years. Hopefully, the success will prompt them to go back into the studio. Adam Morgan mentioned in a recent interview that the band wanted to team up to write again and that they already have two songs completed.

Remaster is cool but I'm so used to the raw production on the og that it still sounds better.
Most remix/remasters are completely pointless tbh
