Sebby, if you want slower, more depressing, and more drop dead heavy, Shape Of Despair might be a good choice for you.

I don't like these guys very much. They use synths waaaay too much.

That's what separates them from other Doom bands, the synths create that amazingly thick atmosphere on this CD, its amazing.

I've only heard Through Her Silvery Body and it is amazing! I never get bored when i listen to it. I even feel like its too short sometimes. I have to get this.

In regards to Commortus and his recent (and abhorrent) sound off:

I do not disagree with you for the fact you "hate Swallow the Sun" as there are many popular bands that I cannot stand (so don't dismiss this as some fanboy rant) or, even, for the reason you rated this album four points lower than I did. But when you proclaim that this is "silly emo ****", clearly, there is something you have misconstrued about doom metal.

It's not so much about the riffs as it is the atmosphere and the emotion (which is usually melancholy and somber). If, as you say, all you want is "crushing, god forsaken, brain smashing riffs", you have no business listening to doom metal.

My first actual doom metal album, and i love it. Contemplating giving it a 4.5 but need more listens. Not one weak track.

A beautiful genre in which you are indulging. You will enjoy it.

Although I might disagree about the weak track thing. Under the Waves doesn't particularly hold my interest.

Well, I mean its solid. There are tracks that I can definately say are stronger or weaker than others, but I enjoy all of them so far (with one listen though)

My personal favorites by far are "Hold this Woe" and the title track, can't really decide which is better but they're definately the album's major standouts imo

I was impatient, so i just downloaded it off itunes. You can order it off amazon if you want to tangibly own it, but it'll probably be very expensive, and will have a long ass shipping time.

I don't listen to this album as much as I should. I think it's not as good as Ghost of Loss though. Hope is still growing on me.

IMO hope is their weakest. Not sure between this and Ghost of Loss
