"I've heard of these guys. They seem pretty talented. Would this be the album 2 buy if your 1st getting into this band?? Claypool must be a pretty good bassist to be up there with Flea."
Yes, I realize this question has already been answered in the 10 months since it's been posted, but I'll answer anyways. Start with Sailing the Seas of Cheese and/or Frizzle Fry. And Les is a much more skilled bassist than Flea.

antipop is just great... i think it might even be one of primus's best album. Lacquer head is good. i love playing bass or drumming to this album

This band is unreal, very cartoonish.

Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit fame was the producer for this song, but the song is no worse off for it.
Because he was the PRODUCER. A producer does not usually write or perform on a song.

Your point is?

Just that the quality of the music means more than the people who produced it; Les produced a Limp Bizkit track, but I'm not going to buy any of their albums. This Message Edited On 08.13.08

It does but producers carry amazing weight to how a song will turn out on a studio release.

great review. this album is better than the brown album, and sort of a combo of frizzle fry and punchbowl

Funny "Coattails of a Dead Man" is one of my favorite Primus songs of all time. I guess you just haven't been drunk enough to enjoy its true genius. Every time a few of us get together we throw this in after a hard nights drinking lock arms and do a drunken pirate jig to it. Guess you gatta be there.....uhum...

Always good to listen to every now and then.
I do wonder when they will follow up with another album.

'Laquer Head' is pretty much the only remotely good thing related to Fred Durst. (excluding his reference in 'The Real Slim Shady)

Totally agree with walrus dude. This has the feel of earlier Primus material, like stepping away from the experimental material like tales from the punchbowl, which isn't their strongest album to say the least. This is good stuff.

To me Eclectic Electric is where things start to get patchy, but goddamn if there isn't some fantastic material on here.

I actually think that this album is the best album that primus has ever made. The Antipop album express themes hard metal themes while keeping to the original Primus quality of sophisticated bass lines. In my opinion one of the absolute best albums in the world
With a foot note to the beastlyness of Lacquer Head my favorite primus song ever

Right up there with Sailing The Seas of Cheese and Frizzle Fry as one of their best albums. It was a refreshing change of pace after Pork Soda, Tales from the Punchbowl and Brown album which all sounded kind of samey.
