Martin's bass is one of the best things on the album

this is less wild than NSV but some of the stuff on there is so wild it sounds unrehearsed or just off-time completely. this is the perf controlled brutality cryptopsy for me.

That's EXACTLY why this is my favorite Cryptopsy alongside NSV. It's so beautifully unhinged

None So Vile took me a few times to get used to, or rather a year or two lol

The dog barking vocals and unintelligable lyrics and assault of everything else going on was just wayyyyy too much for me at the time (its when I was first getting into death metal)

But now its my #1 favorite death metal album of all time

Time heals everything

The prod on this always put me off vs NSV but it turns out that turning it up very loudly does indeed do the trick. Slapperino. Closer killed me.

I first heard NSV when I already loved dm, especially stuff like Suffocation and Immolation and shit. I always liked the music, but I couldn't help but laugh at the vocals. At the time I thought the praise for his vox was some long-running joke lol.

I didn't think his growls sounded bad or anything, and definitely some inhumanly long screams, but the RUH RUH RUH dog barking style and complete lack any effort to enunciate was just lol. Took multiple spins for me to appreciate the vox, and eventually I decided they added character to the album, plus it certainly fits with the chaotic nature of the music.

Although personally I prefer his vox on this one.

funny enough I know several people irl who aren’t that big into death metal in general who love nsv almost as an outlier. I think there’s something about it that sets it apart from basically everything else in the style that people can latch onto.
