I have to agree that musically this album could be better.
As for "stealing riffs", you'll be hard-pressed to find a group that doesn't use something of someone else's sound anymore.
"Sellouts?" I think not.
Pay attention to the lyrics. There's more emotion there than you think.
Hated that Chavez isn't on vox anymore, but the new sound is kinda cool IMO. Don't look at the singer as Jon Davis' little bro, or you'll be expecting a Korn-like vocal set. He's not his brother, get over it.
All in all, worth a listen at least. I found I identified with a lot of the lyrics, but that's just me.

I can't believe so many people hate this album. It's not bad at all actually...did any of you actually listen to it? I mean it's not great by any means, but at least they tried something different. Some of the songs are actually pretty decent.

That's how I discovered them too. All them Deadly Alliance ads within the current issues of GameInformer at the time.

lol I remember this era like it was yesterday. They used to play their song Giving In on MTV back in the day too.

they were a pretty big nu metal band back about 20yrs ago, so i would think this is more an age thing than anything else.

Had almost completely forgot this album. There are a few neat ideas and solid melodies here and there, but a lot of it is soooooo sloppy, in writing and execution. The bridge in Shoot the Arrows has very little impact just because of how not in sync the musicians are. Feels quite amateur-ish for a band that used to be big-ish. Also that vocalist works for the softer moments but he has 0 power in the more aggressive moments.

All around feels directionless and I don't struggle at all to see how the band fell into complete obscurity. It's a shame cause I did enjoy the band's first album and some of the second one.
