These guys really suck.

It sounds like you are attacking the band more than writing a review. I could not disagree with you more. This was an amazing album. Anyone who thinks Brann's drumming is distracting is a f**king dumbass. If you can't stand some complication in your music then why are you listening to metal??? The guitars are equally amazing. And the people with screen names like lost_profits and mudvaynian can go listen to their poser metal from bands that have no talent at all and survive solely on the following of the fans who have no idea what true music is. Just because a band goes against the mainsteam s**t that's around today, everyone thinks it sucks just because they don't understand it. And the conceptualism in the album actually has a double meaning and its awesome either way. Go back to you overrated s**t like AC/DC f**kbags.

I wouldn't exactly say they are listen-able to the mainstream. I know people that think Atreyu are too hard to listen to (Not because they suck because they think it is too heavy). If you think Atreyu is too heavy you definitely couldn't handle Mastodon.

punk or metal but yeh, they are much more accessable than like, 1349 or whatever

More marketable doesn't mean they are easy to handle. Most people in the mainstream cringe at any form of heavy music.

Well, this album is more marketable than say, anything off Remission, put it that way.

Yeah, I would still say Blood and Thunder is their most accessible song yet. Maybe not "Sleeping Giant" or one of their acoustic instrumentals, but I think in general Blood Mountain is, if not heavier, far weirder than anything that came before. "Capillarian Crest" in and of itself is just surreally ridiculously absurd. The soft, menacing riff just before "Capillarian... CARNATE!"

Nice Reivew, but I completely disagree with your opinion of this album.

Thank you.
I've never understood this obsession with people screaming that this is such an incredibly talented progressive brilliant band. Very few things bore me as much as mastodon.
What I'll disagree with is the drummer. They should turn off the band and just let him play. Hes the only thing that keeps me from falling asleep when my friends turn on Mastodon albums.

You're opinion is somewhat null because of your avatar.

Mastodon is overrated, but really not that bad. I can see what people dig about them.
|
| |
Mastodon are just random as hell sometimes. They are unconventional, to me at least, and that's why I enjoy them.

I still think this is a pretty remarkable listen. I prefer Leviathan by quite a way though.

you should give them some credit for trying, but this album isn't exactly innovative or enjoyable. sure, the drummer is a standout, but the rest of the band are just average.

Just got this for 3 bucks. This is nothing mind-blowing but still enjoyable and quite addicting. Drumming and bass is pretty good.
Is there a chance Leviathan is on par with this or even a tad better? If so it might be one future purchase.

I like this but I agree that Leviathan is better.
