I'm glad this band are big, they're just a little different to everyone else which is cool. They seem to be bringing a lot of people (back) to metal.

I like Leviathan a little more than this one, I'm probably in the minority there. But this one was a lot of good tunes and interesting passages.

I agree this is better then Leviathan by far. If Blood Mountain had Hearts Alive, Blood & Thunder, Seabeast, and Iron Tusk, then it would be a perfect album. I do think Sleeping Giant is the best track by Mastodon, but that's just me.

I agree on Sleeping Giant, fantastic song. This Mortal Soil is probably my fave off this but I think I prefer Leviathan and Remission.

Has anyone heard their latest song?

Cut You Up With a Linoleum Knife.

It is pretty awesome, nice tongue-in-cheek humour.

Are you for serious?

I like this more than Leviathan.

Agreed.

Also, I found out the song Cut You Up With a Linoleum Knife is for the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie. I am pumped.

Confessed, I finally found a stream of that song. I thought it was awesome, great parody. And for those who are interested. Here's the lyrics.

don't talk watch, don't talk watch

....

do not kick or get out of the seat in front of you

while your sitting there

i am everywhere at once and i will cut you up

if you make out here

we'll cut your lips and tongue from your head

with a (linoleum knife)......(Speaking of food)

Do not crumple your food wrappers loudly

be considerate to others

or i will bite your torso and give you a disease

Did you bring your baby?

Babies don't watch this take a seat outside.

living in the streets .....

if i see you videotaping this movie

satan will rain down your throat with hot acid

and saw your testicles and turn your guts into snakes

This is a copyrighted movie for time warner

if i found out you sold it on ebay

i will break into your house and tear your wife in half

Iluvatar, you are a douchebag.
You keep defending yourself by saying that you said that the band is talented but then you turn right around and contradict youself by saying the guitarists are the definition of mediocre. Hmm...seems to me like you are just pulling your comments out your ass.

They certainly do pull-offs alot, but their riffs are just so awesome and fit the songs so well.

I can't say I like Blood Mountain as much as their previous releases. Brann is definetly the strongest member.

Illuvator - what the hell are you talking about?

Brent and Bill are brilliant guitarists - exemplified by the riff in the middle of Capillarin Crest where Brent does a chickin' pickin bit. Plus, they are tasteful - Brent's solos fit songs perfectly and are technical enough to remain interesting yet listenable.

And tbh, who cares if they use a lot of pull-offs or hammer-ons.

This Mortal Soil is my personal favourite from the album - every other song is excellent though.

Very strong album indeed.

blindearth even if you don't agree with someone don't use insults because no one will respect your opinion at all and it just makes you look like an immature little kid.

On another note I think this is way better then Leviathan. Its less murky and far superior instrumentally.

Mastodon's owning since they're first and very underground album (Reimission) with songs like motherpuncher or march of the fire ants, blood mountain iis mastodon confirmation for being the next great metal band, this already is a classic album , and i've got to see them 3 times here in portugal (how lucky am I?) you cant miss them they're just great in stage.Mastodon rocks m/

this album's guitar work is by no means midiocre. it just isn't quite at the same level as fall of troy.
