I guess it's personal taste. Blood Mountain's melodies and tracks stayed with me, although listening to both I can see Crack being more complicated to execute but I don't retain its melodies that much.

Love both though.

This album is Mastodon's most ambitious release (& their best), although I do dig Leviathan a lot too, this just feels special. It's progressive but restrained enough to be listenable. I know it gets criticism for being overly indulgent but I disagree, the balance is just right.
