The music seems every bit as good as the others in my opinion. I think what people don't like about it is that there's a lack of a story to it while the other albums are more or less concept albums.

Na man this is better than de-loused...it's soo good, it just takes longer to get into than their others...the awesome moments don't stick out right away and it's a little lessed focused, but that's what makes it better...plus day of the baphomets rules with an iron fist

I mean concept wise so they can make individually better songs...the only downside is the lack of concept makes it feel like a collection of songs because of the poor order of tracks, but this has most of their strongest work

Despite the heavy reliance on scales in the intro it's the best introduction to a song TMV have done, and after the 8 minute mark the track explodes into amazingness.
Let's recap:
- You said 1/3 of tetragrammation is boring
- You also say it's the best thing the mars volta has done musically
- then you change it to the 'best introduction to a song TMV have done'
So either your are admitting that it isn't the best thing TMV have done or you are highly overrating TMV's catalogue considering their best song is boring for 1/3rd of the song

Meccamputechture goes on WAY too long, and they constrained Theodore way too much.
