Yes, I listened to this yesterday, it was sunny and not too warm. It really created a nice atmosphere

for this album. Enjoy.

Definitely find this overrated. It's good, i might even improve my liking of it a bit but i can't really see it being so far from what i'd take as a sludge/post-metal template album tbh. I find Oceanic to be somewhat superior, even Celestial. All pretty solid though.

Just felt like the thread needed a little back and forth here so hum yea, my bound-to-be-unpopular opinion. haha

definitely lacks the sludge overall, probably why you prefer the previous records

"definitely lacks the sludge overall, probably why you prefer the previous records"

I can understand how it tries (and manages) to set a mood. I feel like it never gets too bright, too nostalgic, it kinda holds on hitting the right spots for me and just "stays safe" overall, if you can make sense of that. I'm used to like more twists and turns in my music as well, couldn't say otherwise. I do feel the atmosphere, perhaps it's just not my ideal of atmosphere as well. Cult Of Luna for example, being that they feel more dynamic and hit deep in the nostalgic feels AND at the same time are heavier, are a far better listen for me.

I don't know if it's the sludge that's lacking, it certainly is the momentum that a good, hard hitting and heavy sludge section has the capacity to bring, but also that a good powerful post metal riff manages to accomplish for me. i.e. Cult Of Luna's Eternal Kingdom, which i've been jamming an awful lot lately.

k i should get some sleep now.
