the fact that this is set in immediately pre-COVID and during early COVID makes everything emotionally supercharged. Just reading lyrics to Roman Candles and Paying Bills gave me goosebumps

yes. I mean it all factors into the story but more importantly, first song on that EP is straight up his best song

"I want to scream the chorus of the t/t from a fucking mountaintop, impossibly massive" [2]

instant goosebumps, SOTY candidate. It's the sort of payoff that makes me want to just binge the whole Aaron West story knowing that song is waiting

"4ths can only ever be perfect, no?"

i probably didn't use the right terminology, but basically like playing a C minor in the key of G major, especially after you already just played a C major. It's like the textbook "super dramatic" chord imo

ahhh yeah gotcha - interval-wise, think that's going from a major to minor 6th relative to your root (G), but there's probably a better term for it in chord rather than scale theory (which I know piss about lol)
iconic effect regardless

once upon a time I remembered what mixolydian actually meant and knew things about chords but now I play drums and I have left key signatures and modes behind
