it definitely feels like a recalibration of them of sorts but the self titled was like the final form of everything theyd been trying beforehand so kinda makes sense i think that they're trying to approach the heavy and the pretty both in a new way

I wished that S/T had more variety and this sounds like a different style. Will make for some great live show variety at least, but a shame they couldn't do half and half.

wave and pale iris are the only two that have really have self titled vibes to me and one of those songs is good lol so i think the change is prob what they needed to stay fresh. i think id have been bummed if it was just an album of like lesser electric twilight and remnant derivations

source: probably the biggest self titled fan on planet earth

The S/T was one of my favorites in the genre, just solid from front to back with a ton of memorable moments . This just kinda goes by... very disappointing IMO. I will give it another couple of chances though, S/T earned it.

if a .5 drop is significant

and it really mostly just is pale iris thats wack otherwise they're pretty close to par imo. just on different terms (as the incoming novel of a review i have written will go more into lmao). axe that song entirely and move blue reverie in between excess/wave and you got a stew going

This is okay but would have been better if they had fully committed to what they obviously wanted to do here. Keeping one foot in their heavier stuff is what holds this back imo. I'm down for vibey Erra tbh. Hell, my favorite song on S/T is Shadow Autonomous, but I feel like they kinda pussied out here, and all the heavier material feels really half-hearted.

Wave and Glimpse are awesome though, and Excess has some guitarwork that I really enjoy.
