Yeah, shitting on Good Kid is dead on arrival. Plus any one of Kendrick's first 4 LPs bodies Cole's discog. Imagine making a career off of being relatably mediocre for people.

“your first shit was classic, your last shit was tragic, your second shit put n****s to sleep, but they gassed it. Your third shit was massive and that was your prime.”
fyi... cole is referring to gkmc as kendrick's first album here. gkmc classic, big steppers tragic, tpab sleepy, damn kendrick's prime
kendrick, for whatever reason, has personally always considered gkmc his first album. nobody knows why lol... but the fact that cole is also looking at kendrick's discog like that is weirdly very respectful of kendrick and makes the diss even more hilariously wack

Panning TPAB and lauding DAMN. Man is upside down.

Yeah, I thought Section 80 was part of that bar. Honestly, trash assessment in any context. But yeah, I’m like a lot of people that only listened to the last track. Tbh, I don’t see myself wasting my time on a full listen any time soon, this man has always been just okay and massively overblown by his fans.
|
| |
claiming TPAB put people to sleep just makes me know this dudes music will most definitely put me to sleep
Some people are so far behind in the race they actually think they’re leading
|
| |
The fact that there’s so many good producers on this makes the lyricism even worse, what a waste

That's fitting because he raps like a dude who clings onto being good in his 20's
|
| |
He was never good.
|
| |
yeah he should have deleted his entire career much earlier i.e. before it began
|
| |
i mean i remember him being part of the conversation in like 2013 with like schoolboy q but unlike q i didn't have any friends recommending him to me back then lol, that last time i heard him was probably like 2017-2018 i didn't know he was still popular i felt like he'd already fallen off by that point

That means you got good friends. Bc ppl recommending Cole are usually annoying ass people also recommending trash like NF, Logic or Joyner. Also the occasional Tom macDonald recommendation lmao

He literally isn’t talking about shit on this, for someone who’s supposed to have substance. Came over to smoke with my friend and he’s playing it.

time to find a new friend

"that last time i heard him was probably like 2017-2018 i didn't know he was still popular i felt like he'd already fallen off by that point"
i think this is correct broadly speaking, but forest hills drive is universally seen as a classic album on the level of kendrick's except for places like this and i think it's done a lot to maintain his relevance. his top 3 albums on spotify (besides this new one) are all from 2014 and before.

i'll defend forest hills drive. not groundbreaking but a solid album. nostalgia ties for me though.
