Man, if this album is a 5, then what are Defenders Of The Faith or Stained Class?!?!? Thats what I want to know.

Well Defenders transcends all known rating systems because it is actual perfection

A cut above Firepower for me, I'll have to try again after cutting the bonus tracks out (they were a noticeable drop the first playthrough too).

This
Don't forget to ignore those 3 last bonus tracks cause the drop in quality is abysmal.

This is pretty good, but I find it annoying how almost every chorus is the title of the song repeated over and over again [2]
Yep. Everything feels so strong, but some choruses are kinda lazy.

ya I can't stand "song title four times" choruses. makes me want to skip to the next track.

The ending of Giants in the sky is so fucking good as an album closer and dare I even say it, career closer. It’s perfect.

At this point I'm convinced they'll keep going until they're all dead. They were supposed to call it quits after the Epitaph tour in 2012... They haven't mentioned anything of the sort since. Thought Redeemer might have been their last go. The Firepower came out and everyone loved it. Now this is out and fans are digging the hell out of it. They have the vindication to go until they drop.
So "career closer" feels a bit premature, though I understand the sentiment!

Heyyyy a TCA review! Nice work homie, and you were right about this record, it's a front to back thrill ride.

It’s a symbolic 5 as much as anything, if I had more decimals I’d have made it a 4.9 tbh
But regardless of how you feel about the music, you can’t deny Halford sounds absolutely incredible for being 72. Lots of power metal vocalists only aspire to be this commanding.

I really would love to hear one more album with Richie and KK. No idea if it would work but it would be interesting.
On a side note, do we actually think Tipton is playing anything on here?

Damn good album. I can’t believe these dudes are still killing it like this.

He looks like he's just playing power chords in the video. I think he's playing on here in the same way that I believe in Bigfoot.
I'm really rooting for Bigfoot.

idk, I'd have swapped "Fight of Your Life" in for "Devil in Disguise", even if it overstays its welcome. But "Vicious Circle" is kind of a throwaway, and "The Lodger" is just weird, so those play as bonus.

I'll hear it later this year.

The instrumentation and vocals are good but I wish the melodies were better. Even albums considered not great by the fanbase had absolute bangers like Judas Rising

I think every song on here is a banger, and despite kinda sticking to a formula for choruses I think they’re still distinctive enough and just a really fun collection of songs. I say it’s hard to call it a culmination, but it really is.
Also yeah I’m betting a lot of the guitar work was Richie

Angel of Retribution is considered not-great?
I'd single out, like, "Halls of Valhalla", "Heading Out to the Highway", or "Nostradamus" t/t but I guess I have more nostalgia for Angel than most since it was my point of ent...er, my introduction to Priest
