Sometimes the jams just don't hit mate, glad you still dug pieces of it tho.
For me this is like, a surprisingly pleasant blend of bleak-ish black/doom hybrid with -slight- psychedelic tendencies that retains a sort of..FoR structure??? Idk again what makes it still sound like FoR in any metric but by god it's something lol.

True bro. And honestly I get heavy FOR vibes from this lol. Idk how you couldn't. It just doesn't have the folk elements.

@Hawks maybe it's one of those albums that you'll come back to in the future and then it will click. That happens to me all the time. Or it could just not be your thing. I am surprised you don't like it though, I would have thought this would be right up your alley.

Very possible but a lot of times my first impressions usually stick. Hope this is an exception. M///

sometimes an instant injection of double-espresso just ain't enough for some people (I do try to at least get out of bed before this point, but shit is hard).
I did listen to this in the hour of 6 this morning. It went down surprisingly smoothly though, so maybe not the best alarm? lol, idk

As a FoR fanboy I have been following this closely and it's good but I prefer the warm FoR vibes over this bleakness.
I almost wish they just put this to rest and focus on FoR lol

I know that’s greedy of me

Agreed, I was referencing dewi. But it has occurred to me that this might postpone a new RoF.

I reckon this is right on par with FoR's best stuff (though nothing can touch Keys imo)

This is about on par with FOR weaker stuff tbh.

Actually I should revisit some Rolls of Fauros now, maybe I hear them differently.

"I reckon this is right on par with FoR's best stuff (though nothing can touch Keys imo)"
yeah, my orb is certainly being caressed here. Creative continuation of FoR's progressive-leaning BM just with less (i.e. no) folk. It's slightly more claustrophobic in its heaviness because of that (maybe?), but still retains a sense of melodicism / mixes things up plenty. And of course, it riffs hard m/

Exactly. And honestly I think there's really no hiding his riffing style so I'm glad they didn't go out of their way to eschew what they do best. He's got his own sound and it seems like it sort of just followed him into this project. I'd never call it FoR 2.0 but there is no denying it sounds like a distinct and direct relative of its parent band. That doesn't make it lesser in my eyes. If anything, the fact it hits like a piece of quality canon adjacent to an already brilliant discography only makes it better.
