I feel it's shrinking Ect.

I remember now why I didn't dig the last albums either, I don't like much their singer.

Fair enough then. These guys come and go in phases for me

Songs For No One is an absolute tune, if not their best song, definitely their best chorus ever.

Maybe it's time I give this band another chance, they never really clicked with me...

Listening to the discog on shuffle. It really does feel like In Contact is still the magnum opus, while Rise Radiant chased down the melodic aspect of that album, while this one is a separate branch from In Contact to the darker/proggier side. It makes for such great variance depending on what mood you're in, and a great playlist to shuffle as well.

Jim Grey is one of their strongest features, if you don't like the singing I feel like there's gonna be little here to keep you coming back.

"Needed just one more song like Golem"

I can see this. I showed Golem to someone who usually likes more straightfoward rock/metal and they liked it, but I have no clue what other song to send to them.

The album definitely has the exact amt of Golem it needs and adding more would just have them slipping back into the issues with the last album. Works great as the single and I'm glad it's there but it's definitely there in the proper amount.

Yeah I should probably just show them Oceanrise or Valkyrie... or The Tempest... or Slow Violence... Yeah I should probably just send them a link to Rise Radiant, good call.

It's their most immediately digestible/basic hard rock leaning album I think, although I don't think it's anywhere as bad as that might suggest. Slow Violence in particular I do rly like. But Salt/Resonate/Autumn/Ascent are def where that album really shines for me.

Autumn and the Ascent are tops for me, especially The Ascent. I don't want to dunk on RR though, it's what got me into them, and if the record in between Charcoal Grace and In Contact wasn't as straightforward, I'm not sure I would've ever gotten on board.

I was aware of them with Bloom but got blown away by In Contact and that remains my clear favorite of them. Glad to see them going back a little bit to that. After two full listens I'm feeling the bookends of this the most, both are really great. The middle part I need to digest more, though The Stormchaser is a really nice jam too.

Wow this one really creeps up on you. Demands multiple listens for the moments to really stick, as rise radiant did

The closer is a real banger, so many good hooks there! They rarely disappoint with their opening songs and closers tbh

My initial impression is that it's better than Rise Radiant. It's certainly more emotional which is something I don't feel like the band has ever really nailed with their music for whatever reason.

Certainly better than Rise Radiant, on par with their earlier releases in terms of enjoyability, though they are music-wise quite different animals.
