Ugh. Glad you "awful"-ed this so I didn't have to go through any cognitive dissonance. It's ludicrous that he thinks that his solo singing can compare to the cooperative singing of songs like "Breathe." I like Simon and Garfunkel's singing in general better than just Simon, but he could get away with it. Waters couldn't -- at least not here

I'm sure this is trash but I will never change my opinion that Roger Waters wrote and produced almost all of their best shit post-Barrett. Post-Waters Floyd is just lobby music, I have no interest in any of it aside from a song or two. There is no Pink Floyd (in the sense of their legendary status) without Waters. A Gilmour led Floyd would have been fucking awful. I like some of Gilmour's solo stuff but he will never in a million years be on the level of Waters. I don't give a shit what nonsense Waters says week after week, he gave that band all of it's edge that made albums like The Wall so legendary. Gilmour will never match his output in a million years

It’s been mentioned on here already, but as tends to be the case in bands, it’s the sum of its parts; and that’s very much the case here. Waters ain’t shit without the rest of Floyd and, I agree, Floyd aren’t great without waters.

i mean a good case for floyds mastery of arrangement[and shady songcredit snubbery of the 70s] is comparing roger waters wall demo to the finished project, they took like an ep worth of fuckingaround material and turned it into a legendary double album. most of the big singles off that album are like 30-40secs on the demo, and the songs that remained mostly the same are the bridging tracks everyone skips like vera.

(additional hottake: both rogers&gilmores solo albums are either awful or 'okay.' i always thought momentary lapse of reason was bad but then i heard radio kaos which is somehow even worse.)

I took a listen to his re-do of Money and it's just dreadful, sounds like a really bad imitation of a Leonard Cohen song. While I'll defend Waters output with Floyd and some of his solo stuff, this is just awful and insulting.

This is genuinely such a bad album cover. They had so many things they could do with this and they went with the Dark Side of the Moon prism in a dog's eye? Baffled at that alone tbh.

Wow the spoken word bits on here are really bad. Just clumsy directionless phrasing and word choices that reek of first draft all over the damn place, I was fully ready to be a contrarian here and I'm with fearbefore on Waters being the heart and soul of Pink Floyd but yeah "not it chief"
