"Koris you mean the nostalgia critic thing? should I watch that and refer to it as “The Wall” like I’m going to with this?"
Yeah, that's exactly what I was referring to. lol

I really don’t know dick about Pink Floyd, I’ve heard literally maybe 5 songs, and one of those is that awful Roger Waters version of comfortably numb. But isn’t Roger a lefty? Him not being a Morrissey level dipshit makes me wanna check out more of his music.

I'm really surprised you managed to avoid PF's music for so long. Even before I was ever a fan, I already knew a bunch of their songs just by not being able to avoid them

He continues to get it wrong.

I’ve heard their really mega popular songs. Like Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, Another Brick in the Wall, Hey You etc
But yeah just looking at the tracklist on Dark Side of the Moon and I don’t think I’ve heard a single one of these songs in my life lol. Which is insane because the album art alone is iconic behind belief
|
| |
how have you managed to avoid both Time and Money tho
|
| |
And holy shit, they have SEVEN whole ass albums before Dark Side of the Moon?? I’d only heard of this, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall.
Alright, honestly, where do I start with this band? Koris I feel like you might know me well enough to pick a good entry point.
And I think it’s because my dad wasn’t really a big Pink Floyd guy. He loved Queensryche, Maiden, Metallica, more metal I guess. Any old music I’ve ever jammed in my life (as in, shit that was made before I was born) is entirely because of my father.

OG Dark Side of the Moon is a fine entry point
|

I might just give that a shot. It being only like 40 mins is legitimately shocking to me. They have the prog rock tag which is immediately off putting but the fact that they don’t draw their songs out to like 10 or 12 minutes is already appealing to me

When it comes to the band's heyday, this is the order I'd recommend:
Dark Side of the Moon / The Wall / Wish You Were Here / Meddle / Animals
Keep in mind that this is just the order I'd suggest, not my personal ranking of their quality. The reason I suggest DSOTM and The Wall first is that they strike that perfect middle ground between accessibility and artistic ambition. Plus, they arguably have the largest amount of "iconic" tracks in the band's catalogue. And I put Animals last, since it's the most abrasive and angry record of that era (plus the fact that it has only 5 tracks, 3 of which are 10+ minute epics). But hey, if you think you'd prefer the darker side of Floyd, then by all means, start with that one :]

I think I might dive in with Animals because that sounds like a challenge.
I love that this turned from me drunkenly shitposting on a dumb remake of an iconic record into me actually kinda wanting to check them out.
Here’s to getting into Pink Floyd in fucking 2024 lmao
|
| |
I’ll probably just go with this record. Long ass songs like that annoy me anyways.

animals is audible drywall
meaningless drivel
start with the first album and syd's solo stuff, then try dsotm and the wall cause everything else is filler (i skimmed through 16 seconds of the other albums to be sure you can trust me and my extremely informed unbiased opinion)

Sonic I hope you’re not talking shit, you have way too much prog on your chart to call anyone retarded
|

shut your mouth

Pink Floyd has some long-ass songs but they really don't fit into the same mold as most prog rock bands of that era, much more ~vibey~ and easier to get into
|
| |
hot topic ass cryin about long songs. lmao. whats the matter? tiny walnut brain?
|
| |
I’m reading the wiki page on Comfortably Numb and it’s saying it’s one of the last songs the band collaborated on as a whole.
|
| |
yeah even cheerleaders at school liked pink floyd, its good weed/pill popping music
