The 1st couple of songs had some truly frantic slap bass that makes Les Claypool sound like a restrained player. That immediately put me off of this one, and the rest wasn' t any better.

I respect that they went absolutely without restraints on this to an extent, but the parts do not even sorta equal a whole.

It's frustrating because this could be a pretty decent Thornhill-esque blend if they trimmed the excess and focused their songwriting.

There’s something here but it’s not nearly there yet. Also the production is terribad

Let them soak on what they got here and maybe they’ll put something nice out

Artificial Void is their best but Haven and Malleable are really good on Covenant

People hate on the production of Artificial Void which I never quite understood. The low end is intense for sure but I don't know I've always kinda dug it, especially on headphones or speakers that don't have that much bass to begin with.

my rule of thumb is generally:

if Hawks hates it I might like it

if Hawks loves it, I might hate it

hasn't steered me wrong yet!

I thought it was pretty decent. The pretty parts were pretty, the heavy parts were heavy, and the choruses killed. I agree the production was ass. I don't feel like they're having an identity crisis though. It's got a bunch of good-to-great songs and it sounds fresh.

Pretty much my take. I like the formula I just need more variety, not every song on this needed the heavies

Im loving this album. Yes it sound like polyphia, yes it sounds like a compressed mess but the mix of melody and brutality is so much fun. The songs are really cohesive and only drags a bit at the end. Super fun album.

This guitar tone is like listening to After the Burial from the next room over, what the fuck.
