So many tracks feel like transition tracks to bigger ones but they continue to peter off. Is that intentional?

think they could benefit from beefing up some of their song lengths past the 3 minute mark. a lot of stuff here feels like another minute or so is needed for the ideas to breathe, especially the overgrowth. theres only two songs here that push 4 minutes (and one of them is dreamwalker which lmao)

hell even the songs i love like offworlder could use a lil more, which is part of why ive been listening to that song over and over again. almost too short to get my full fix in one jam

Only thing holding this back from a 5 for me is how short some of the tracks are. Offworlder and The Overgrowth were too good to last for such little time

Right? I was set to name Fearless or Death We Seek as my AOTY, then here comes Slant Plant to just upend my entire AOTY list

"Another solid alb from these dudes but another case of the singles being the best songs and the deep cuts being good but not great. Offworlder and Nexus are sweet tho"

My feelings exactly

Album's not nearly that soft and melodic but that is the general aesthetic

Album is fantastic. It’s probably not my favorite of theirs — I really love When the End Began — but it’s damn good. Don’t think it takes the AotY spot from Heavener for me like I want it to, but it has some of my favorite songs — Antimatter, Dreamwalker are instant highlights.

I have no idea how I feel about this. Parts are amazing, parts are terrible. No song outright sucks as a whole.

It’s almost dense. I’m gonna have to listen to it a lot more to unpack it

Really good review, you summarized a lot of my thoughts on the album. I was never the biggest SP fan before, but this album suits them really well. Dreamwalker, Signal, and Anunnaki are my early favorites.

Cool album. Funny the connection to Loathe a band which is absolutely defining the genre
