A lot of the sounds on here remind me of Balmorhea.. Certainly not a bad thing
|
| |
I also hear/feel that Balmorhea warmth. The transition between tracks 1 and 2 is so smooth.

“Still” is the song Phoebe Bridgers wishes she could write.

Oooooooh jelly Jesp 💕
They have all the right traits to make them an ultra Sput darling. I hope it happens, they deserve it.

This is definitely a late-year highlight for me, might bump to a 4.5 soon. This has some of the most beautiful acoustic guitar lines this side of Mark Kozelek and it's all so atmospherically cohesive and immersive. Great songwriting too even if it very much feels like a suite to me - "Still" in particular is pretty genius.

this gives me the same warmth that i feel with the folky grouper albums (mainly dead deer) and i adore it

It’s definitely Grouper-y, though Maria’s vocals and approach to composition/production are pretty different from Liz Harris’s imo.
