Baby boss checking in to say I did not enjoy this nearly as much as their previous records.
If I wanted to listen to Springsteen, I'd listen to Springsteen. I think I am going to go listen to some Springsteen.

There’s like two songs here that resemble Springsteen

the more stuff adjacent to this ive been jamming the more it highlights that this reallllly aint shit. went back to my highlights only today and didnt even like them all that much

yeah these guys have just rehashed the same songs for the last decade honestly.
|

I guess a lot of bands get away with doing that though.

I actually like Running in the Roar of the Wind a lot. Great closer. I only wish the buildup at the end went further, felt like some big loud chords and a guitar solo wouldve been a great way to end it, or something along those lines. Instead it just kinda peters out.
The rest of the album was pretty boring.

I generally prefer Tom as a vocalist - The Bars and Last to Know are two of my favorite Menzingers songs - but he's pretty awful on this record

The Bars is top tier Menzingers.

running in the roar of the wind is probably the best song here but it also unfortunately falls victim to a lot of the pitfalls here too so much so that i cant really call it great

I love most of Tom’s songs on ATP, but ever since then his tracks have consistently been my least favorite. The dude has one melody and sings it on every track with the same marching band cadence

I'm a complete Greg schmooze apologist, but I cannot disagree with a single word of this review.
Most of the tracks are at least passable, but I can't overlook the production. Listening in higher quality only makes it worse as you can hear every detail of their unforgivable production choices...
4/10. POS'd.

As someone who never seems to get worked up about production choices and tend to put it all down to songwriting, can you point out a few moments you suggest I should listen to specificically to notice said production choices? My minimal knowledge of production boils down to if something sounds crisp/clear or not.
