think We Think So Ill of You is the best song Daughters never wrote as well as Oxbow - hear both artists in that song more keenly than anything else (vocals are definitely more what Marshall was [trying to be] than what Robinson is/was imo), and it's a freaky set of bedfellows

Still really need to listen to them. Maybe I’ll spend my Labor Day weekend jamming weird shit I never really have given a shot before

jam My Father... for a concise and relatively undervalued digest of nu-Swans

or just go hard lol - though this definitely has more in common with their reunion era than older shit imo (and agreed that this >>)

I remember these guys demonstrated a ton of potential on their last. Excited to hear what's going on here as I can only imagine it's a slight reinvention.

I kind of like the last album more, for my tastes. I think they could've easily shaved a solid 20-30 minutes off of this album and it would be an improvement

The track by track analysis they're posting for this on their social media is incredible. Would recommend

I'll have to look into that too. I think the last LP suffered slightly from being very drawn out at times for the content that was there. Like Everything didn't HAVE to be 15 mins just because you're making post rock.

@johnny I went with To Be Kind and good thing I had a lil smoke sesh because this shit is entrancing as fuck. Halfway through Bring the Sun and I’m loving it but definitely have to be in very specific mood for it

Swans are that much more hypnotic in person, it's wild. And loud as all hell compared to any band, especially for something decidedly not metal.

A good idea lol. So I just started this up. The skronk factor is in full effect.

Love how unassuming the intro after the strings bit is it's like "oh is this gonna be Cashout by Fugazi?" and then gradually it really really is not
