"That they axed (it seems) their anonymity is also kinda sad - I liked the mystery and silliness, though ig if you’re the band it could get old after a while."
Are they still the group of attractive looking people I've been seeing in their recent live studio vids on Youtube?

Yes review is good, BIG LOVE
Haven't jammed these guys in a long while, not sure if this is the right time to jump feet-first back into their catalog. Shame if they ended up losing their edge.

I wish.
NY Times seems to have the deets, tho I mean who the fuck knows. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/21/arts/music/the-armed-perfect-saviors.html
Given Tony says he thinks they’ve collab’d with over 100 people at this point, it’s still pretty hard to know who has been responsible for what lol, which is still cool.

I think I kind of like this, having played it a few times today
I’m glad that I don’t dislike anything as much as Liar 2 but I’m disappointed I don’t like anything yet as much as the end of Sport of Form

I have a feeling I’m really going to like this, just not as much as the last three

band has been powerless since (after) Untitled. Great, another critically praiseworthy album that doesn't offer me anything. The theme of it says it all. I don't care about your social commentary. We all know this already. Gimme the hard shit and let us tolerate all possible judgments about simplicity and angst. Stop trying to be complicated. Commenting about popularity contests while being your own popularity contest. Provoking infatuation. Soft. Annoying. Some catchy parts here and there but nothing that means much to me. Should be one of the greatest hardcore bands ever. Instead, not one of the greatest rock bands ever.

I mean as much as I love Untitled how many times do you want them to make the same album? Only Love and Ultrapop were both still hardcore and wild in their own ways. I don't love the direction on this new one, but it's still a very catchy batch of songs and I can appreciate them succeeding in what they were going for.

yeah the more I listen to it the more I dig it. I’m pretty sure I remember some people wanting a full blown pop album after ultrapop. This is as close as we’re gonna get and I’m here for it.

I mean if you wanted a The Armed goes Pop then this is pretty close to perfect, and I hope when I get over my personal disappointment with that direction that I’ll be able to love this more. For now though I’m grumpy lol.

I would've been thrilled to have a full blown pop album from them (so I thought) but this really doesn't satisfy the way I was imagining in my head. A large part of that is that Tony simply doesn't have the singing voice to carry any of these songs, but a lot of songs don't seem to climax in a satisfying way.
"This has grown on and off and on and off and on and off for me it has been exhausting the number of different iterations this review had killed a small forest. When I’m in the mood, the melodic direction this takes is really entertaining and euphoric, but then I always get to the closer and feel so underwhelmed."
I feel this hard. I've heard the album about 8 times now and I keep flip flopping between being wildly disappointed and finding it pleasantly catchy. I will say the final four or so tracks sink this album and end it on an unbelievable low note.

I also don't think this is the closest we are going to get to a pop album from them. Hold on to your butts

Frickin NY Times has the paywall so I couldn't see much, but I'm pretty sure this is one of the most attractive active bands right now, if Youtube is anything to go by lol.
If they're all collaborators of some type, pretty sure rule #1 is must be attractive
