I can definitely see that sow.

To be fair I wrote Noonday Dream off after the first few listen so I’m in no rush to bin this one.

Yeah, the melodies take a while to work. It slowly went from sounding like an amorphous blob of studio tricks to Howard's usual magic.

This grabbed me almost immediately, shrugged off the opener but it clicked hard between Backwards and Lantana. Would never have expected Ben to work so well in this palette, but also it's a perfect take on the sound (albeit mastered a little thin) and his songwriting is on point throughout. Really appreciate how cohesive and consistent his engagement with electronic is compared to that absolute mess of a pandemic record

The pandemic record had some quality jams on there but yup, definitely didn't feel like a true follow up to 'Noonday Dream'

I actually like the opener, but maybe for it establishing the sound more than majorly exciting me as a standalone song

There's a small handful of songs from that one that could have made for a neat transitional EP fs, but end to end hmmmm just another world has lost its mind moment

And yup, I can roll with the opener now - just threw me on first spin lol

This is very very good
Put it on while making a short road trip. Very pleasant.

Yeah I won't blame anyone who writes this off, especially initially, because that was literally my reaction. The only reason I listened to it long enough for it to grow was because I acquired a promo from the label and I felt obligated to spend more time with it.

Ben Howard is only a little older than me. Crazy to think he had two strokes. I read all about it prior to writing the review, but I didn't see anything that explained the affects it has had on his health (which is obv his right not to share).

Hang on a sec lads. Bloody love Interim of Sense.

Total Eclipse is me when picked out by the teacher to answer a question at school.

Interim of Sense is indeed lovely. The melody on that was one of the first to grab me.

Yeah, Interim of Sense is the only track here where the quirk oversteps the mark

Fair play sow.

@Colt. The magic of Ben, he manages to create melodies that unravel and grab you completely out the blue from what first appears to be a right old pile of wibble
