TBH, I love all of their albums, but I just listen to Symmetric in Design the least. Reborn and Veil of Illusions are still two of my favorite Scar Symmetry songs though.

I could never rank their albums. I love them all too much. 2012 - The Demise of the 5th Sun, and Detach from the Outcome are such bangers, along with most of the other tracks on the debut. I love most of Dark Matter Dimensions, the issue is, out of the final 5 songs, I think only A Parenthesis in Eternity is essential listening. But the everything else on that album is gold. Unseen Empire is the one that I find the least interesting, but still good, if not compared to the other albums.

Yea I'm also not as stoked about this as I had hoped. The dull mix sure doesn't help. Voyage is a goddamn banger though and doesn't outstay its welcome unlike a few other tracks on here.
Also why does the single have a banger artwork and the actual album cover is a total stinker?

the single's cover art was AI generated, I've heard complaints about it because of that. And scar symmetry cover arts are generally not super bombastic as a rule, they should get Pär Olofsson to do a cover art for them sometime.
on another note, finally the average on this has exceeded its avg on RYM, things are back to as they should be

Anyways, now that I've finished this I can finally say that this is very good, well worth the wait. A lot of this reminds me of Pitch Black Progress atmosphere-wise which is a good thing. Not sure yet how much I like this in comparison to Phase I, but overall it's great to finally hear this and I'm eager to see how they close out the trilogy. Hoping for some surprises.

This does remind me a lot of Pitch Black Progress and it's not my favorite SS album so that makes sense. Digiphrenia Dawn in particular really brought back memories of Illusionist and Slaves to the Subliminal (which I do really like).

Slaves to the Subliminal is an amazing song. PBP is full of absolute bangers, no single bad moment on that album. They're trying real hard to keep up with the old albums and doing a decent job, but I think they would need compositions by Kjellgren to produce a 4.0 avg album again
