I love the authentic style of Kalmah and I am following them since 2005. I had the chance to see them once in 2009 in Dudley, UK. There is some resemblance to Children of Bodom and Insomnium at times in the current album which is a plus. At the end of the day the Finns are having something in common. Meanwhile, the 9th album is eclectic, diverse and very solid in my opinion. Melodic, rough, trashy and atmospheric, the album is original enough. My personal favourite is Red and Black not only because of the tense and aggressive atmosphere it creates but also lyrics-wise. I could compare it with Outremer in terms of the message - the devastating results of the military-industrial complex role, lack of moral compass, combined with the ideological/religious fanaticism of the leaders and untouchables.
Each song has its own unique signature. Pekka's clean vocals are really standing out in a better and improved way. In my view, the lyrics and music complexity are resembling the depth of Swampsong (which is my personal favourite) The humane maturity and melancholy is what makes this album stand out and there is nothing proper than self-titling it. Moreover, the Japanese bonus track Silent Sorrow is the perfect song for ending this epic 9th chapter.
Respect for Kalmah - one of the best bands ever. Keep rocking guys!

Overall great album. On par with For The Revolution perhaps with less standouts. I can actually go through the entire album without the urge to skip some tracks.... which was quite a lot with their last album lol. Serve the Untrue, Drifting in a Dream and Red n Black were the highlights of this album.

just jammed the single Haunted by Guilt. Bizarre production for these guys, pretty muddy overall. The intro and blasting parts kinda sound like a mess, but when the melodies shine through it's hard not to bob your head. Still very Bodomy at times which I enjoy. Might give this a proper spin at some point

They Will Return is my personal favorite Kalmah so I'd like to second that recommendation, though Swamplord and Swampsong are also very good. I don't think you can go wrong with anything Black Waltz and before with them.

I have Waltz, Return, and Swampsong 5'd if that helps...
Revolution is the only one I have below a 4, and I kinda feel bad about that lol, it still has bangers.

I really don't hear the issues people are having with the mix. Doesn't sound any worse than any of their other albums
