Wish I could give this a 4.9 as there are a few bits here and there that I personally think could be made better, but I frankly can't think of many collection of songs that are quite as solid and developed as these twelve are.
also, absolute AOTY haters cope and seethe

I totally understand why this is such a "love it or hate it" band, because I actually started out by absolutely hating it, and then one day Hypnotize just clicked and suddenly I started finding them a mesmerizing band. For once, the hype is justified. Gonna be fun to watch people´s reaction to this.

it is better IMO

depends on your taste (as most are really crazy good), Rain might be the shortest song that serves as a good sample of what the album in general sounds like, but Ascensionism or the title track are where the meat really is. The Apparition is also mad sexy

I really really dont understand the hype this band has behind it. Im not doubting they are talented but jesus christ its boring. Also they would be better off just sticking to the alt rock/non metal bits. The metal section on the title track literally ruins the flow the song set up and throws away the soundscape it set up, unless it flows into the next track then it may work. Overall its fine I suppose, enjoy it everyone who digs it but eh still dont understand the hype

These guys are the very definition of “a little bit of everything”. In 2023 it’s hard to listen to an album and feel like you are hearing a masterpiece, but that’s how I’ve felt all 3 times I’ve listened to this so far. Probably the first time I’ve felt that since Born of Osiris’ “The Discovery”. I hope all the haters give this an actual chance.

The closest thing ill call close to masterpiece from this year is Ne Obliviscaris's Exul and shout outs to Heimdall, but those are just the top pics of this year for me. I wouldnt call them overall masterpieces. Ive tried a few of their songs, i tried the title track its just all so meh to me. Im glad it resonates with you and you enjoy it as much as you do.

I love the piano work in Aqua Regia

Think the only song I could see myself skipping would be DYWTYLM. Other than that, an incredible listen front to back. Rain caught me by surprise that might be my favorite track on the whole album.
And yeah, Aqua Regia's piano is genuinely spellbinding

Might give this a shot, the title track came up on my release radar, I do find the vocalist annoying, not sure if the excessive effects or his enunciation

Y'all remember Zelda: Majora's Mask? There's a side quest that has you getting a Zora band back together and I swear Aqua Regia is something they'd play.

Aqua Regia is easily the best song on here

This feels like the “for fans of” should list: The inability to get an erection without porn, spraying Axe deodorant every before every conversation, and shirts that don’t have sleeves but look like they once did
I wonder how many different Doritos bags they have in their collections
