Album is sick. Quite enjoying it. I love Josefs guest spot.

Glad to see so many people enjoying this. Thanks Pump, I think I prefer Slow Decay as well maybe just slightly but 24 minutes of straight ragers really satisfies that spot in my heart.

agreed
I'd go
It Comes in Waves = Failure > Slow Decay > this

I agree with the above assessment

Unsure if that riff at 1:44 in Teeth of the Cursed Dog is just the most Continent-era riff they've written in 15 years or if it's a deliberate callback, the notes and the groove are so reminiscent of that period (also holy shit Continent was 15 years ago). But yeah, this slaps, need more spins before a rating but at least a 4

Turns out I was thinking of the riff in Dr. Doom on Continent at 0:28 into the song

Happy these guys realized they don’t need 5 minute long songs anymore
|
| |
exactly they needed 10+ minute ones 😈

Consistent band wow

Only recently started listening to these guys, their newer stuff that is. Maybe that's got something to do with their above mentioned trajectory.
Still need to give this a proper listen. Their last record Slow Decay is pretty great

I mean, for real. This is all the fat trimmed off and the other one is a sludge record. The 4 and 5 minute beatdown metalcore songs was wayyyy too much

@Relinquished sorry buddy I had to share that existential crisis with someone other than myself
|
| |
I love the idea of releasing a quick in your face album and a slower sludge/doom album together. Everybody’s happy.

This kinda fucked. Acacia are definitely better now than they were in the 2000s and I applaud them for not resting on their laurels.

goes hard in the paint fr. what are some recs like this sludgey, grindy, hardcore, metalcore mix whatever. much prefer this to their more deliberate doom stuff. straight and to the point with a fun mixture of genres.
