I really like how you set the scene for your first listen of this album btw, and your description sold me on checking this out. On a proper spin now since it’s my day off, these guys remind me a bit of Hexvessel meets BÖC, maybe a sprinkle of Ghost, and then there’s that JT-like flute pumping through too. This rocks hard, can’t believe I’ve never checked these guys out before, it’s like they were built in a lab to appeal to me.
Only slight drawback personally is that they’re leaning a little too hard into the psychedelic side on some tracks for my taste, but judging from what you’ve said here, that’s atypical compared to their previous releases, so I might enjoy their earlier work even more. I’m still loving this one though, solid 4 at the very least.

The Eldritch Dark seems to be a fan favorite but they really haven't made a bad album, the first ones I think they're heavier, very much leaning into Sabbath worship.
It's a good discog run though so enjoy it!

Haha, thanks man. Dropping a place-holder 4 on this for now. Yesterday when I made that comment about this being “too psychedelic” for my taste, I was specifically referring to Eugenie, I just wasn’t really feeling it, felt like it was meandering a bit, but on further spins that’s grown on me too already so I can see this climbing much higher.
