A champion jouster, Oxford travelled widely throughout France and the many states of Italy. He was among the first to compose love poetry at the Elizabethan court[3] and was praised as a playwright, though none of the plays known as his survive.[4] A stream of dedications praised Oxford for his generous patronage of literary, religious, musical, and medical works,[5] and he patronised both adult and boy acting companies,[6] as well as musicians, tumblers, acrobats and performing animals.[7]
He fell out of favour with the Queen in the early 1580s and was exiled from court and briefly imprisoned in the Tower of London when his mistress Anne Vavasour, one of Elizabeth's maids of honour, gave birth to his son in the palace. Vavasour, too, was incarcerated

This is the single most beautiful thing I have ever heard. Most beautiful EP, LP, Single, or anything I've ever heard. I expected this release to be some solid B-side songs from Once Twice Melody but nothing crazy, and my expectations were blown out of the water. The title track Become as well as the track Devil's Pool are the most beautiful things I've ever experienced. The entire EP as a whole mesh so well and is truly amazing. I still absolutely adore American Daughter, Holiday House, and Black Magic but Become and Devil's Pool are on a level of their own. I would consider Become and Devil's Pool to both be 5/5 and the other three to be 4.9/5. I think this is the closest to perfection you can get. This release feels like a large departure from Once Twice Melody, and it's the best possible direction they could have gone. Although they do continue to blow my mind and outdo themselves, I do not believe they can this time. This is their magnum opus it is absolutely brilliant and so hauntingly beautiful. When I die I hope this EP plays as I watch the entirety of my life flash before my eyes. Thank you Beach House.
