Except Frances is their most interesting record after Deloused, almost it's equal.

Don't get me wrong, Frances is great! But it doesn't deviate enough from Deloused to make it interesting in its own right.

I just listened to Graveyard Love off this and I really like it! I didn't think the approach of this album was very intriguing, but gonna listen to the whole thing soon!

I actually think I like this even more than the regular version of the ST, which I loved. The Latin musical influence is even more prominent on this, and the somber and more subtle delivery really resonates with me emotionally, and makes me appreciate the lyrics even more. This album is just so amazingly poignant and beautiful to me.
I know a lot of long time fan TMV fans disliked the ST, and I wouldn't expect anyone who disliked that to like this. But as much as I adore their earlier work for its complexity and obtuseness and frenetic craziness-- something about this and the regular ST just feel like exactly the kind of music I needed to hear. Sure, it's poppier and simplified and shorter, but I personally don't see that as inherently bad as long as the music still resonates with me. And, god, does this ever.

"Move this shit off the lp discog into compilations"
I thought the same, but I think they're actually classing it as a new LP.

S/t is really solid. I’m seeing them in two week, can’t wait. See how they fair up. Saw them on their bedlam tour which was insanity

Looks like they have a nice distribution of oldies in the setlist so it should be a great show regardless of the current musical devolution.

Ok, having spun it in total, I must say that most songs do not work for me. Blacklight Shine being possibly the worst. The vocals do not fit the lush instrumentation at all. I am wondering if they just took the same vocal tracks as in S/t? That would be kinda lazy but somehow would explain why this sounds so disjointed...

i havent jammed this since i reviewed it, but i recall the vocal work being different?

Might be, I am no expert on s/t neither so I can't say. But at least it would provide a rationale to the disjointed abomination that is this version of Blacklight Shine.

Yeah I hope I'm not driving 10 hours all the way to Berlin just to see this shit performed (I don't even live in Germany), but the recent videos on YT are promising.

Frances kicked it up a notch, more self indulgent they are very different records. Most of Deloused songs were pretty tight.
Deloused is like Yes' Fragile and Frances is like Close to the edge IMO , not saying they sound anything alike just a comparison that makes sense to me
