"et smelter" is fucking stunning. "abyss perihelion transit" is the track i don't like. don't think that will change either. that closing section is just weak.

I feel like I'm watching Ulver's Bergtatt and Blood Inside dead making sweet freaky love and I have no idea which album is which role yikes okay

I feel it's a little step down from A Umbra Omega but it's still great stuff. Glad they finally returned.

I don't find the overall vibe much different from Enslaved's latest. Perhaphs more daring and original I would say.

This is miles better than the latest Enslaved, though it didn't hit me quite as hard as I was hoping. Probably a solid 4, will go back to it

I’m loving this. Album cover makes me think of Darkspace, but space in color. I’m vibing.

It’s good but I think the weakest parts of the album are the ‘traditional’ black metal sections (a good example is actually the very first riff, which could have been written by any number of bands and I don’t think is particularly good), but it definitely has the potential to grow on me. Reminds me of Arcturus at times. I really like the cleaner sections, which have some excellent wandering bass lines.

I think this record is way more than the sum of its parts
The transitions between different sections are silky smooth and instrumental to conjuring the enveloping aggrandizing atmosphere present throughout

enslaved are hot garbage when compared to this band.
and whenever they go back to familiar territory it hits me like a ton of bricks (i.e. that trad-bm section in the first track, which is imo so well written and beautifully placed, with those huge, suffocating sad vibes, bliss really)

"enslaved are hot garbage when compared to this band."
Why it has to be always smth good in detriment of another. I like both records, both are incredible recordings in their own way and also completely different.
