oh yeah the nothing is true era show i saw was better, but it was relieving to see they havent completely lost it
and yeah those are the worst for me lol glad they did not play either when i saw them. i didnt get much off this tho, just the singles and the title track

i think this recent live cycle was by far the most impressive from a production perspective.
It hurts for instance has some really special lighting work. Checkout this at 1:50: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD7bwVlfdWo
I think I prefer them when they did a run at a few smaller venues early last year. Energy of that gig was just top notch

oh those are just the songs i saw live i actually kinda dont dig the title track lol. but yeah leap into the lightning is dope, albeit needs a better chorus like nearly everything sans pls set me on fire. i like dead wood too. no interest in anything else here really, so thats like, half the album rip
hope they get the magic back but the new song was horrible so probably not

They also played Giant Pacific Octopus, I was really happy about that one :3

I also don't think the collab songs with their support bands are that indicative tbh. The Fever 333 song is quite dull

This album stinks

havent hit this in a while. feel like if you ep'd this and turned it into:
1. pls set me on fire
2. it hurts
3. leap into the lightning
4. bloodshot
5. dead wood
i'd 4 this, but it's just such a boneless full length

Yea, I don't really see why this wasn't taken well here. It's not peak Shikari, but I think it slaps

i think it's that it basically throws every aspect of this band front and center all of the time rather than leaning into something new the way they'd been doing their whole discog. coming off an album as sprawling and diverse as nothing is true, it was just too jarring of whiplash for me
