I'm really trying to get into this. They have some really jaw dropping breakdowns here, but the songs tend to feel pretty indistinguishable, although they're technically stepping up, while taking a look at black flame, I can recall almost every song, despite listening to it back to back only twice. The cleans and choruses induce almost no feeling whatsoever, I give him all the credits for trying and being a really proficient vocalist, but he is just another metalcore tenor, and not the reason why I listened to BT initially.

Some songs will grow on me but it's mostly not my thing.

Abandon Us and Carcass King are absolute bangers, I must admit

My overall conclusions are that this is a good/very good album (3.7 in a less basic rating system) and Bury Tomorrow still lead the metalcore pack. However, I just can't shake the feeling that losing Jason and replacing him with a talented but ultimately quite generic-sounding vocalist in Tom has just pushed them a little backwards towards the chasing pack.

I fully expected that going in but I feel like they did a fantastic job with songwriting to fit the new dude perfectly (wrath and carcass king especially)

^ Two best songs for sure. Wrath starts kinda average but the back half, god damn.

Maybe with the vocals being less unique, they might need to dial something else up a little with the next album? Tom is bringing some light influences with his keys, maybe that's a possible direction?

I'm not mad about them treading this path though, if that's what they choose to do.
