"Four year wait for twenty seven minutes of them dropping most of the forward-thinking pop and EDM production in favour of doubling down on tongue in cheek pop-punk, ska, nu-metal and crunk…but none of it sounds like they’re having much fun any more."
Tis a shame indeed

How can this possibly be satire? Frog on the floor, I got my tooth removed...these are meaningful, spiritual tracks. Yall really think 10000 gecs would just fuck around like that?

I really don't like this kind of hyper-pop stuff. Really makes me feel like an old man judging all the youngsters' music and not getting the appeal.

I like hyperpop
But not this yuck

The more hyperpoppy tracks here are mostly pretty good tbf
|
| |
that's a lot of gecs
|

I liked their EDM/hyper pop more.
That’s probably why I like mememe, dumbest girl alive, etc.
The awful guitar tones and screaming bullshit on Jimmy or whatever are low points for me compared to say, the awesome intro of Hand crushed or the beat in Money Machine when the hi hats roll
I just feel like the shitpost this time isn’t fun, or enjoyable, and is just trying the same thing out but it’s not easy anymore

first record was consistently better but this is still a whole lotta dumb fun

oh man i was really worried to listen to this. having heard they were having creativity issues and the huge gap between LPs and how i thought it'd be incredibly difficult to follow up such a high energy, satirical album like their debut. and yeah, this is even more disappointing than i expected.
they completely dropped the detailed and overly saturated production which was what mainly made that album stick out. hell i dont think a few of these tracks even had autotune (never thought that would be a complaint of mine haha). the first track had some banger to it, but the rest of the album? wtf i dont even like the genres they're parodying to begin with and there's really no room for musical creativity in those tired vocal melodies and songwriting. where it felt funny and refreshing on the last album, it just feels uninspired to me here
ill just accept their debut for the unicorn it is. i really didn't expect them to be able recreate it so all good

They really went from “I was trying to find a way to kill time” to “I was trying to find a way to keep the record label happy” 💀💀💀

"What, in essence, is difficult to understand about it?"
Well, it sounds like shit, so...

If you ever thought 100 gecs were satirical I don't think you ever really got it tbh

To kind of add to this, the first record to me is great because nearly every track is pulling a few disparate reference points together...here they just lock onto one idea per song and drive it into the ground
|
| |
100 gecs were an unintentional satire of satire by being genuine and goofy in a way nobody believed could be anything but ironic and now they’ve no idea how to do it intentionally
Or something
I’m just reading the toilet paper as i shit

Dang that’s your first comment nitpicking one word out of a 3 stanza comment of mine? I feel honored. Maybe you’re right, but I always felt never gunna stop was a satirization of overly glutty love songs that are really empty and lacking in substance. “Feel so clean like a money machine” would be satirizing also empty headed lyrics about money and so on and so forth. Maybe just my (wrong) interpretation though
