it's wonderful, it's hard to believe this is from 2023, today has been different since I got up and downloaded this record. I mean, for those of you who bemoan time, listen to this record.

I always prefer heavier Story of the Year, but sometimes the pop side of them is refreshing to hear. I didn't care for any of the singles, see what it sounds as a whole tonight!

Edit:6 songs in and it is DEFINITELY better than I expected, and more enjoyable than Wolves. They haven't missed a beat...

This album is so boring and generic. Album sounds like what ADTR wanted You're Welcome to be. Nice cover though.

You're Welcome is exactly what this album DIDN'T become. Thank GOD.

Even in spirit, for that album, was so off the damned mark that like you already knew that it was never good. TTTP is a natural move for SOTY, context applied obviously, whereas this isn't the case for ADTR.

Even if, like, ADTR made TTTP or something of that calibre, it would still be shat on. I would too, because like they really arent the type of ppl for material like this. SOTY have proven to be

Context really is something

I mean this album is better than You're Welcome but while the latter went completely off the rails, TMTP is what I feel ADTR wanted it to sound like. Either way, the last album Story of the Year released that was any good was The Constant.

this is nostalgia by the numbers.. not worth getting excited about but never bad enough to despise

their last album Wolves was a lot more enjoyable

Afterglow is a great track, but I really wonder why they decided to put that weird effect on the word (after)glow at the end of each chorus, it just sounds stupid a f...

Ok, so after giving this a few more listens... I take back that it is more enjoyable than Wolves. While the first half of the album is pretty fun, it falls off of a cliff after "Can't Save You", followed by "2005" arguably being one of their worst songs ever written.

Even when the album shows signs of the heavier elements, it's just them chugging along with nothing really interesting going on.

What a throwback! Glad to hear these guys are still kickin and screamin. Good review, I'll have to listen to this more but so far this is definitely speaking to my younger angsty teen self.

This is a bad album until 2005 and then it becomes something much worse. That song is just awful

Today I made a short visit to the city where I lived around 2010 and the temperature rose from 3 degrees celsius to 20 degrees by midday. suddenly it was like summer. During my lunch break, I walked alone on the same path I had walked in the past. I repeated 2005 many, many times. At least for that moment, the song was perfect for me

The vocal production here irks me a lot.

I hate to miss the past in a pitying way. if I do miss it I try with all my might to go back to it, whether it be in health, appearance or mind. That's what I appreciate about this record.

I think it's funny that this is a nostalgia-focused album yet musically sounds like it takes way more from modern incarnations of the genre. Creates a weird tonal whiplash for me. Some highlights here but I wish Dan's vocals were more raw and less overprocessed. Sounds really robotic at times. There's such a thing as "too perfect".

Yea VERY nostalgia-based. I wish I knew all the albums these dudes made but this is so trying to cash in on the old 'Page Avenue' crowd...not to say thats their intent but it's there. And I might be slightly falling for it. These dudes have always held a special place for me in the emo space.
