Couple of spins in, I can say this sounds nostalgic without having to sound dated...

it kinda drags in the middle, but for a melodeath record it's pretty solid through and through.

I happen to hear a weird background noise tho, I think it''s like an echo from the bass, gotta try listening a FLAC instead of a 320K.

Best melodeath album of the year so far.

This is OK for anyone starving for this sound, but I don't think it really does much else beyond being a tribute act. Solid, yet unremarkable.

Boooooo party pooper LOL

They're definitely not reinventing the wheel, but you'd be amazed at how difficult it is to find decent classic melodeath out there... This band is doing what I think ppl have been asking of In Flames for the last 2 decades...

This is good, which is no surprise since it's coming from 20 buck spin. Great guitar work and solid songwriting all around. Not too crazy on the gritty production but it's a good jam.

"Boooooo party pooper LOL"

That's me, fam! ;^)

Tenured acts like In Mourning are still putting out some quality material under the radar. You also had some more off-the-beaten-path hits from Xaon (more of a symphonic take on the genre) and Imperial Circus Dead Decadence.

That being said, a 3.0 isn't *technically* a bad rating! It's a solid jam, just not something I anticipate returning to.

I might be overrating it just a tad, but I absolutely loved it on first listen and was still hooked on subsequent listens before I wrote this review. I'll just have to wait and see how it holds up after it's not so fresh in my mind.

I'm pretty picky about melodeath, but this is great. I had high hopes given I like Inexorum and Obsequiae (particularly the latter), and they delivered.
