does every Xiu Xiu album require a 'hyperrididculous edge'? Actively looking for shock value is probably the wrong approach.

this album wishes it had shock value lol
but no, that was a comment I made about the record Girl With A Basket Of Fruit and not the entire discography of the band Xiu Xiu thank you

I think it’s got an interesting ambiance to it. Don’t think they were really going for shock. Just something different with an industrial/horror kinda feel

I actually enjoy a lot of Xiu Xiu’s discography (I bought all the CDs) and it’s the middle career I don’t care for. I think La Foret and Women As Lovers are my least-listened-to.
This is definitely not as good as the last two records.

La Foret is rather good actually and The Air Force is next which is essential
I haven't heard anything in between La Foret and Angel Guts

"but cannot deny that the main draw here is finding out whether or not it's terrible"
currently listening and bro this is exactly what i was thinking

I would say this is really good, but then I also cannot ever remember to return. Hmm. There must be at least five better Xiu Xiu albums. I suppose that's not a terrible placement considering the size of their discog, just that there are 'levels' here.

Can’t believe how bad the opinions on this are. Easily one of the best things I’ve heard from 2023. Wish more artists would take risks and experiment as much as these guys have

by 2023’s standards, it’s good
compared to the rest of their discog as a whole… eh, not sure on that, although I mostly enjoy the first few and Angel Guts
I’d take this over OH NO and Basket of Fruit

I need to go back to this, enjoyed it when it came out but haven't listened much since - hasn't had the staying power of the preceding 3 albums

I think fans of Akira Yamaoka would like this album
