A Backward Glance on a Travel Road is still one of the best albums I've ever heard, and almost nobody has heard it. Gonna listen to this for sure.

Enjoyed hearing AMT again, but still not sure if I fully embrace it. Definitely solid and an interesting interpretation of djent-like shenanigans.

I just bought it. I haven't heard it yet, but I'll get back to you.

For me personally, AMT is near the bottom of their discography. Shores is their best, followed by this one. Distant Dark Source is up there, too.

Hmm interesting! Still plan on giving this one a go regardless, craving some good metal this year.

I haven't been truly invested in this band since Abstract Shores but I look forward to diving into this soon

I hadn't really listened to them in a while, but this reignited my interest and I've gone through their entire discography a few times in the last few months.

Are you going to do a ranked list? They've had an interesting progression to say the least. They've really carved out their own niche in the post-metal space, that's for sure. If you're interested in more weird French post-metal stuff, you should check out this

Yeah, I saw this on the weekly releases post and instantly dismissed it. Terrible band name. But looks like I should have a flick through their discog.

Interesting review. Haven't checked this band yet but I think I should, and therefore will!

@artiswar - My personal order is: Shores of the Abstract Line > Sheol > A Distant (Dark) Source > Acid Mist Tomorrow > Alba - Les Hombres Errantes > Des Deux l'une Est l'autre
This band is definitely worth checking out. Don't let the stylized spelling dissuade you. This isn't some nu-metal band. This is my second favorite release, so it's not a bad place to start. At least try "Lava From the Sky" for a taste.

"Bone Dust" gives some late-career Ocean vibes, these are good vibes to have.
lol and they're on Pelagic Records, imagine that

Feel kinda the same about this as Acid Mist; they've got a cool sound, but I never feel as though they push it far enough to where it could go. Appreciate the more melodic lean to this as opposed to djent. Enjoyable overall.

was Acid Mist djent-y? I dont remember that at all but its been a while since I listened. its the only album of theirs I really listened to and this harkens back to it a bunch so I'm content

None of their albums are the tunnel vision djent of Meshuggah, Periphery, or similar bands... but it's definitely a prominent element. Less so with each release, though.
--but I never feel as though they push it far enough to where it could go.--
I agree with that. Despite the progression from album to album, they do sound like they've found a comfort zone they're unwilling to expand, let alone abandon. Fortunately, I appreciate this comfort zone. Ha ha.

Oh for sure, it's a solid comfort zone to have, but I feel like they tease me with this heavily atmospheric prog-rock side that they could dedicate much more time to. It doesn't gel as well as it could with their more Ocean-like tendencies, whereas I feel The Ocean threaded the needle on Phanerozoic II.

I'm not all that familiar with The Ocean. I've heard them before and I know I've checked out albums as they've been released, but they never stay on my radar for some reason. I'll re-check Phanerozoic II.

Think you'd enjoy them a lot, their discography is pretty varied. Their recent string of albums have leaned much more into pure atmospheric post-metal, with Part II going the furthest in that direction thus far (as well as some electronic and ambient stuff).
