I get the feeling if Sufjan had released something like this and sang over it it’d have been in the album of the year conversation.



This is subtle but super strong.



At first it’s hard to listen to the whole ‘year’ in one go though

I could see this potentially being a 4.5. I think the vocals are perfectly suited for this.

The only major weakness is there’s more than a hint of Dessner Bros recycling in some of these compositions, some of the guitar work is particularly familiar

Revisiting this, kinda a forgotten early-year highlight for me. Still gorgeous stuff.

Really beautiful voice, but gotta agree with my man Sowing, this is pretty inoffensive and probably a tad too boring on the first listen. Will try to give it a couple of more spins, the atmosphere is definitely there
