This is one of those albums that I really want to like a lot more than I actually do. There are some legitimately tasty beats here intertwined with some real clunkers (thanks Mars). Combine that with the really poor lyricism and the auto-tune getting away from him a bit, and we end up with a fairly whatever album. Brakence catches you with a groovy hook, and then does everything he can to push you away after that.
Very likely to settle into a 2.5 for me.
That being said I feel like this kid is one "SUGAR" away from living rent-free in the minds of tweens everywhere.

Yeah that's another thing, I feel he sabotages hooks with autotune or just overdone vocal inflections. There' a good album buried in here, but it gets in its own way far too often with an overbearing aesthetic.

I love the discussion this is getting. I understand that the lyrics are a LOT for folks, but I feel like overwrought and emotionally frank lyrics are a hallmark of emo/math rock music in general, and so for the lane that he's in, Brakence isn't doing anything worse than, say, Slint or Algernon Cadwallader did.

my favourite lyrics on the album are in 3g when it feels a bit more about something than the very specific situation he is in, but album is growing on me
