Awesome Mars Volta album!
Nah this is actually pretty nice, didn't think much of the previous album but this is making me want to give it another try. It's so chilled, great to pop on whilst working.

@Shemson Thank you. I suppose it makes sense. You can't please everybody. XD

@MyMentality
I’ve had this as background work music all of Friday and all of today and totally agree
I also had been thinking ‘Sculptures If Anything Goes’ sounds a bit like Nocturniquet Volta and I like a bit of extra experimenting

Sculptures and Jet Skis are the skippable tracks for me. Everything else is really growing on me

Maybe it’s been a while since I’ve listened to these guys but how long has Alex been using this Lounge singer style?

I can't deceive myself, I think his singing is pretty bad here and the high notes just gave me the urge to punch him on the face. my rating went all the way down for this reason. The songwriting and other parts are exquisite.

I can understand people liking this direction and also accept that it's not for me, at least at this point. I like the singles tho, so there's that I guess
What I can't stand is his vocal delivery live (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDWgiRMnjdM&ab_channel=OfficialArcticMonkeys) as of late, making old songs more boring with his need to constantly fucking prolong syllables and stupid inflections. Just makes it all seem fake.
I genuinely like the dudes and most of their music, they're a talented bunch and I hope they'll let go of whatever this phase is sooner or later. The decadence and vibe may be cool, but the sound is dull and for the most part uninspired. Damn shame, since the cover is nice too

“fantano with the phat 1.5/5”
Fantano had his mind made up before he even listened to the record, dude only likes American shit.

the first 5 songs are simply superb for me. I believe it has to do with the fact that I like jazz-pop things. Nevertheless, it's still a great release

I don't think this jazzes at all. and who tf cares about Fantano dude is super cringe

this is as soft-rock as it gets. Very strong Elton John vibes at moments. I imagine a better singer could really pull this off and elevate it. As it stands it's still pretty good imo.

I can understand it sounding contrived. I do adore it, I often take it out and play it and Mirrorball is great.

I Ain't is one of their best songs, so much swagger.
