If you asked an AI to spit out a generic modern -core band it would come up with this.

This was surprisingly great as I wasn't a big fan of their past two albums. My Body Is a Cage and The Tower were so fucking heavy, like Jesus Christ!

If they leaned a little less into tropes, I'd likely appreciate it more, but I definitely respect how they did the old-school-ish sound better than most.

I’d imagine they’ll really branch out more in their next album (hopefully). Not even saying they should lean into more deathcore, but that last few minutes of The Tower showed they have a lot more range than a lot of us had assumed

yeah i think this being a break from the almost constant barrage of djentcore makes it even more palatable than it already is

also did this ping jeff vandermeer’s southern reach trilogy for anyone else? the references to ‘brightness’ and specifically the tower really stuck out to me

actually I’m extremely impressed with how consistent and engaging this album stays during it’s entire duration, especially the second half all the way to the end just rules. can see this going up to 4.5

These guys are Uber talented. That last bit of the album shows that they have so much more range than they’ve put on record so far. Great album, but these dudes will excel in the future if they keep pushing the boundaries (heh) of their “sound”

I usually skip that one when I’m out running or something cause I can’t handle the like 2 minute noise lull, but it is pretty damn good.

Fast-forward and then fast-forward yourself into a sprint. Maximize those calf gains!
